Fab Coat Really Toastie Oct 16, 2008
By M. Duffley Got this coat from Captain Daves delivered to me in Ireland. For the price the quality is very very good. The previous reviews mention that the quality is not the best but for this price I think its very very good. The feel of the coat when you put it on is fab, it really is like a duvet and the hood is very soft. The sizing is BIG. I bought the medium for myself and its far too big. It not being worth sending back to the US Im giving it to my bro for Xmas and have ordered another one for myself!! If you're looking for something warm, practical, looks good and at a good price then definately buy this coat. I ordered it and it arrived in about a week to Dublin Ireland, properly packaged etc and I was delighted with it. I'm now ready for the Irish winter ahead of me!!

warmest ever Mar 12, 2009
By Francis P. Quinn Black N-3B Snorkel Parka Jacket
Other reviewers are correct in stating that buttons fall off. They are poorly sewn.
But, re-sew them and you have the warmest, windproof parka for a dirt-cheap price.
The hood snorkles. It forms away from your face into a little tunnel. Neither wind nor cold get to your face.

needs more stuffing to be an extreme cold weather parka. Aug 24, 2010
By Fred Keezer I was in the Air Force for 11 years, I de-iced aircraft in the worst weather every winter, and my favorite coat was the Air force issue N3-B parka. The original parka was made of a soft cloth material in the inside almost with the feel of a soft blanket as opposed to the nylon, and the outside was a different material as well. The hood was thicker with a bushier synthetic fur trim, and the coat was much heavier and I think warmer. But since I just bought this one and have not used it yet, I can't say it is a "BAD" coat, but I just don't see the quality or the warmth of the original military issue N-3B parkas. Most of the reviews are positive, and the snorkel feature is the one feature you are going to appreciate the most from a parka when you are dealing with howling snow mixed with bitter cold temps. Trust me on that. I purchased a Gore-Tex down filled parka last year on ebay, and it did not snorkel, the snow and ice were always getting me in the face, and the stupid thing had that thin nylon material on the inside which allowed the coat to "Bleed" feathers on everything I wore underneath. I took it in to a seamstress and the only thing that could be done is to sew in my old military liner from a field jacket. She never called me back to say it was done, and I never picked it up because I really hated it anyway. So...at least this one won't bleed feathers on you, and it snorkels. The heavy duty nylon outside should actually be an improvement over the original N-3B as far as water repellency. Good luck. Addition to previous review: Well, after having it for an entire iowa winter, It actually kept me pretty darn warm!! I really like how light weight it is, and that the exterior fabric is more water repellent than the original N3-B military parkas and about 1/3 the weight. I did have a need for my wife to re-sew the buttons on, they dont stay on if you don't...But if you dont mind taking care of these issues, it is a decent coat. One caveat, the snorkel hood is a great concept, and when properly constructed does well, but if you are wearing anything under the coat that would cover your neck, there is not enough room to zip it up to the end of the snorkel. Poor design, need just another 2" of material on the snorkel portion of the hood, and you could wear your coller up on your polar fleece jacket underneath or your scarf. cant utilize the snorkel if you have any of those items around your neck.

This is an outstanding jacket. Nov 05, 2009
By Allen Freeman I spent a month in Montana during the month of December and endured temperatures of -55 below. This jacket kept me protected from the cold and wind and is also waterproof. I recommend this jacket to anyone who may have to be in severe cold temperatures.

My husband just "Loves it" Oct 24, 2007
By Barbara J. Mormino
"Mrs. B.J."
I've been looking for this jacket for a very long, long time. My husband is on the bigger side, so it's very hard to find a jacket to keep him warm when we're working outdoors.
I'm glad I kept looking !!!!!!!
Super job !!!!
