This is the "real deal"!! May 21, 2007
By James T. Gibson III
"Rev. Jim"
Every Vietnam Veteran I know brought his field jacket home and wore it until it literally fell off of his body! I know I did. I have been looking for another for quite a while, and this is it!! This is the best mid-weather jacket ever made, IMHO. While you can easily find the button-in liner which converts the M65 to a cold weather parka, I never used mine and don't know whatever happened to it (the liner). Just buy the coat, and see what all of us already know: Uncle Sam doesn't screw EVERYTHING up (just most things)!

Very very big! Oct 20, 2010
By L. Jointer Jr. I saw what others said about the sizing so when i bought mine i got a small as opposed to my normal medium in everything else i buy. I probably needed an XS. I'm 5'8 about 145, not a big guy by any standard but these things run even bigger than i would have guessed.
Other than that the jacket is great, very warm. i just removed that lame ultra force name tape and dog tag and it's ready to rock.

Bad service for return Feb 03, 2011
By Marty4 Unfortuneately, the vendor and I had a difficulty with the description of the item, and what I received. They would not offer, nor allow a return. Since then,I have already issued a review--which prompted them (several weeks after the problem was pointed out to them)to respond. The nature of my negative review prompted them to offer a return acceptance of the item if I would remove the negative review. I advised that I could not alter the facts. Their response was to tell me to enjoy the jacket. I had already donated it to the Homeless Shelter by that time.

A Wide Selection Available For This Popular Classic Sep 30, 2011
By Sand Man My medium frame sits right in the middle between large and medium so I always buy a medium whenever I can, but sometimes medium clothes will be a little too tight and I have to then try on the large size. Since I am of average size, medium can sometimes be somewhat tight, and then a large can sometimes still be too loose. But selecting the right size Rothco M-65 VINTAGE field jacket was easy to figure out.
What the other reviewers say about the sizing for these jackets having a tendency to be too big is accurate because the jacket is intended to be used with an inside liner installed. But the jacket is not sold with a liner, which must be ordered in addition to the jacket. Buying the jacket in your size without a liner, then the jacket will probably feel too big. Since I always try to wear a medium, I ordered a medium, and then I also ordered a liner for it. Without the liner, the medium looks and feels big on me. However, with the liner installed, at least it doesn't feel too big, and the insulation takes up the extra space, and I'm sure this jacket will do exactly as I expect of it when the winter temps begin to drop way below freezing.
But, I also ordered one of these vintage jackets in small, without a liner, and it still fits my medium frame perfectly. I do not intend to be putting a liner in this jacket because a liner will then make the jacket too small for me. So when they say to buy a size smaller, that is only if you don't intend to use a liner in the jacket. BTW these jackets are somewhat heavy and well insulated without a liner. My locale doesn't get a lot of snow and the temps for most of the winter will not drop more than a few degrees below freezing, so this jacket without the liner will probably be just fine for all but the very coldest months of the winter -- which is exactly why I bought the other jacket -- with a liner.
Along with several different brands of this very popular M-65 design, there are also different materials used for these jackets from Rothco. So if you want an all-cotton M-65 then select the VINTAGE model. If the Rothco M-65 doesn't say vintage, then it uses a poly-cotton blend. To provide even more confusion, there are also LIGHTWEIGHT VINTAGE M-65 field jackets that are all-cotton, but the storm flap and pockets all have buttons instead of snaps. And also, the lightweight jacket is not intended to be used with a liner. Pricing for all of them is about the same, so be careful about just exactly which one you are selecting to put in your cart. I would suggest spending a little time researching whats available to help make the best choice for one of these wonderful classics.

M-65 Jacket Review Dec 21, 2011
By John F. Panciera
"jack-the-track"
The manufacturer of this jacket did a good job recreating the original M-65 jacket I wore during the late 1960's while serving with the US Army. After my discharge from active duty I brought home with me the M-65 jacket and two cold weather liners, one light weight and the other a heavy weight. These liners fit the original army issue jacket perfectly. The newly purchased M-65 has a problem. The buttons inside the jacket do not line up with the button holes on the army issue liners. I made absolutely certain the newly purchased M-65 was the exact size as my original army field jacket and the two cold weather liners. The exact size for all items is Large Regular. The newly purchased M-65 without the liners is fine. If you want to bring back memories of your old military days, this is the jacket for you. You won't be disappointed.
