4Good Tuner for the Price  Sep 18, 2009
By R. J. Hillier "aquarius15"
This tuner is no longer in production, but it is rather new in the line. It is compact and light. The features are outstanding. I have tuned pianos for 43 years...and this is one of the better tuners I have usef in the electronic line. There are just too many good features to list. The only thing I don't like, is that because it is so lightweight, it does not like to stay in one place on a piano with a DC adpator and an earphone attached. But that can be overcome. I would also recomnemd buying an external microphone...and an external contact microphone for tuning most all instruments. It is amazing how electronics get so much cheaper, and with more features in each generation.

4I love this tuner  Feb 14, 2009
By David Lamkins
I love this tuner. I bought one when the price dropped to $60.

The display has extremely high visibility (especially with the backlight). With "focus tune" engaged the resolution (accuracy) is as good as my Peterson Strobo-Flip. Batteries last a long time. The compact size makes for easy carrying in my guitar case or the side pouch of my amp bag.

The only negative is that the battery door does not fit well. It falls off at the slightest touch. This is easily remedied with the use of a bit of tape to keep the door from sliding open.

I'm disappointed to learn that Korg has discontinued this model. I bought a second one at the closeout price.

4Good for Guitar  Jul 11, 2010
By bibliobob "bibliobob"
After I use other inexpensive electronic tuners to tune a guitar, I need to fine-tune by ear. It's simpler to forego the tuner and use a tuning fork. This tuner is different: it's almost as accurate as tuning by ear, and easier and faster.

The main difference is Focus Tune: it automatically switches the display from +/- 50 cents to +/- 10 cents when you're within 10 cents of the target pitch, meaning the needle moves in about 0.5 cent increments compared to 2 cent increments on the Korg CA-40.

It's not as accurate as an expensive strobe tuner, but close enough to satisfy most musicians.

PROS (compared to Korg CA-40)

Large display (2" h x 3.125" w), backlit (switchable)
Jacks for 9v DC, headphones
Volume control for headphone
User selectable reference tone (4 octaves vs 1): press on, press off
Sound level meter
Programmable temperament
Cloth pouch included

CONS (compared to Korg CA-40)

Heavier, bulkier
Not stable on a music stand
No instrument output
If dropped, more likely to break

I prefer LCA-120 for guitar; Korg CA-40 for orchestral and band instruments.

5Chromatic tuner with LARGE backlit screen  Jun 08, 2010
By Francine Fosselman
This electronic tuner is great. I used it last weekend in a darkened room. The backlit screen let me see in the near dark. The large size made it poosible to read the screen without squinting. When I first ordered it, I thought: "yeah. Right. We'll see." Now it is a permanent tool in my gig bag. I'll never do another gig without it.

4The KORG LCA-120 digital tuner  Jan 09, 2010
By J. De Groot "jang"
The tuner arrived quickly after having sent my order via the website.
I like the tuner because it offers the possibility to load it
with a self-chosen temperament, i.e. if you give for one
octave in the compass, for example from bes to a1, the
deviation in cents with respect to equal tuning, you can
always use that temperament. In my case it was Werckmeister III,
being a historical tuning for harpsichord or organ. If you wish,
you can replace it by another temperament of your choice.
There is one minus point: one of the posibilities is to switch
to 'focus' in order to get a very precise tuning. This does
not work for harpsichords because, being a plucked instrument,
the pitch is slightly varying. The sensitivity of the 'focus'
facility is too high. The usual way of tuning when comparing
with a tone produced by the tuner works quite well for
a harpsichord. Therefore, I am happy with this tuninmg device.
