Not polarized for a reason Apr 26, 2009
By Paxson Other reviewer complaints about not being polarized: true aviator sunglasses are not polarized. Screens on GPSs and many other in-cockpit devices have polarization to reduce glare - hence, if you're wearing polarized sun glasses, the screens appear black.
There are literally thousands of glasses that have polarized lenses. But if you want to fly with them, you're out of luck. Posers - go find some polarized glasses. Pilots - these work.

Great glasses at a great price Jul 19, 2010
By E Kantor These are great sunglasses. The optics are really good and the construction is solid. And you can't beat the look. Some may find them a tad on the heavy side due to the use of real glass but I like the solid feel. I was concerned that they aren't polarized but so far it hasn't been an issue. I have a smaller face and have trouble finding a good fit. The American Optical's in the 52mm are perfect for me. The case they come with is nice. Nothing fancy but it does the job. I do wish they came with a cleaning cloth but that's a minor complaint.

Excellent Glasses Jan 20, 2007
By Family Creighton I had purchased a pair of these specs for myself and then gave a pair to my father for christmas. They are a perfect design. They look great and the build quality is excellent. The materials are great as are the finishes. These AO Aviators are a wonderful classic design that need not be changed and as Aviators go they are as cool as they come.

Good sunglasses for the price. Oct 18, 2010
By Mr. G. Lavin The glasses arrived quickly and came nicely boxed and with a soft case. The AO Pilot sunglasses have a sturdy gold plated metal frame and excellent dark glass lenses. The downside of this is the additional weight, which you notice when wearing them for an extended period of time.
Be aware, the styling is very retro but if that's a look you like theses glasses achieve it admirably. If you want a more modern look the same model is available with a chrome frame and grey lenses. The 52mm lens size is best suited to a smaller face.
Overall they are excellent value for money.

The best sunglasses Jul 28, 2008

I bought my first pair of American Optical sunglass in 1965 while in the Army. I still have them and they're still going strong. The manufacturer isn't kidding when they say the lens is polished, hardened and optically perfect. My only complaint about the first pair is the lens was a bit small. They improved it with the new glasses and that makes for a perfect pair of sunglasses. You can't go wrong with American Optical. The military has been issuing them to pilots and all other personnel for fifty years. A great value, great service by the shipper, goods arrived in perfect condition.
